A native of Katy, Texas, Dr. Robert A. Aertker graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in Biomedical Sciences, earning the Thomas Gathright Outstanding Academic Scholar Award. He received his medical degree from UT Houston McGovern Medical School, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. He then completed his internal medicine residency at Duke University Hospital.
Dr. Aertker returned to Texas to complete cardiology and interventional training at the Texas Heart Institute, where he was elected Chief Cardiology Fellow — a reflection of both his clinical excellence and leadership abilities. He specializes in preventive cardiology and the percutaneous treatment of coronary, peripheral vascular, and valvular heart disease. He leads the structural heart team at St. Luke's Woodlands Hospital, where the TAVR program was recognized as a Center of Excellence within the CommonSpirit system in 2025 for its outstanding clinical outcomes.
